Bath Time Blues: A Love Letter to My (Not-So-Little) Man

Remember bath time, little man? We turned that tiny tub into an epic adventure! Your plastic armada of animals and superheroes conquered soapy seas for hours. Fizzy bath bombs transformed the water into a magical canvas, where your imagination painted vibrant stories. Every bubble held a secret waiting to be discovered. You splashed, made all sorts of noises, and built entire worlds that shimmered in the ripples of your little bath.

But somewhere between those playful days and the gangly teenager you’ve become, I feel the magic seems to have faded. Showers, once filled with your laughter, now see you rushing through a quick rinse. Water, once a beloved friend, now feels like a foe.

Where Did the Bath Time Pirate Go?

Video games with immersive worlds might be pulling you in. Maybe hanging out with friends, building new bonds, and figuring out your place in this social whirlwind takes up more of your time now. Or perhaps TikTok’s endless stream of entertainment, or your cats stealing the show, has become your new go-to.

But here’s the thing, Mr P: while bath time might not hold the same magical allure it once did, your love for water, for cleanliness, hasn’t completely vanished. It’s just… evolved. It’s hidden beneath layers of teenage hormones and the ever-present desire to do things your way.

A Gentle Reminder Wrapped in Big Love

While there might be a friendly nudge here and there, I want you to remember those joyful days. Remember the fantastical stories we spun together, the laughter that echoed down the hallway, and the simple pleasure of being clean. The vast ocean that beckons you now might seem impersonal compared to our bathtub adventures, but water’s cleansing power remains the same.

More importantly, remember this: No matter how grown-up you become, no matter how independent you strive to be, my love for you is constant. It’s a love that’s as powerful and enduring as the ocean itself, and it washes over you even on those days when the shower seems like a chore.

Love you, Mama
